“yes you heard right caviar’

Is it possible to live in West Yorkshire and not like curry? We’ve written on the Yorkshire Pudd blog several times about our love of a right good curry, so when the opportunity to visit possibly the most recognisable curry brand in Yorkshire (Mumtaz Leeds) if not the entire UK appears what do you do? Jump at the chance!

Mumtaz Leeds is based on the banks of the canal basin’s that surround the Royal Armouries, if you’ve not visited the area yet then you simply must, the area reminds me of a Spanish Marina, albeit this is Yorkshire the boats are barge’s not yacht’s and the weather is not quite the same but hey I wouldn’t have it any other way!

Entry to the elegantly decorated Mumtaz restaurant is a real wow factor moment, this is different to most curry style restaurants, one of my dinning partners for the evening comments that ‘it makes a real difference when the chairs are comfy’ and I couldn’t agree more, to paint the picture a little clearer it’s the sort of place you could take a business client or a date and they’d be impressed and if they aren’t they certainly will be when they learn that they also stock a selection of caviar, yes you heard right caviar and yes this is Yorkshire!

Lamb Curry Mumtaz LeedsService is some of the best I’ve received of late, the waiter talks us through the options and gives us his personal recommendations, I’m impressed that i can almost create my own adding ingredients where to compliment the dish, for me it reconfirms that this curry is going to be cooked fresh.

The mixed grill starter is a real treat for our table of 3 with an array of different meats that are spiced perfectly and leave us wanting more, exactly how it should be.

Mumtaz LeedsWe have equal praise for the mains, the naan breads are a real winner and the rice is perfectly cooked, a first for me and the highlight for me in the alcohol free zone is the mango lassi, wow, if you’ve never ventured then please do, it just works, who needs alcohol anyway?

So is it worth a visit, yes yes yes, I’m a great believer in variation, pay them a visit I promise you will not be disappointed!
