We like to take you on a little journey with us for the ‘places we go’ page, so our Claire shows a little snapshot of her recent trip to Northumberland.
Me and my family love to get away for weekends when possible, and my husband and I are both equal parts city dwellers and country bumpkins (so it’s no surprise we settled on a bit of both for our home in West Yorkshire). We love the urban cosmopolitan rush, but then we also like escaping to the hills, where we love to blow away the cobwebs with walks, hearty food and sea or mountain air.
Our latest jaunt took us to the beautiful Northumberland, which I fell in love with a year ago when I went to Bamburgh Castle for a friend’s wedding. We wrapped ourselves and our toddler up and headed north, and these are some of the pics we took of our travels through Morpeth, Alnwick and Alnmouth.
While our trip wasn’t a review opportunity, it’s worth mentioning the Sunday lunch we had at Close House Golf Club on the way up (great food and stunning views) and the tea and scones we had at The Village Tearoom in Alnmouth after a wild and windswept walk on the beach (exactly what we needed to thaw out – and the delicious homemade scones were still warm!) – Just in case you need a couple of recommendations.
