India and Britain have a long, rich history. As a result, Britain has a massive influence of Indian Cuisine; a lovely advantage for Britains since every town has at least one Indian restaurant. Some Indian dishes are very spicy, though. This is a dish I made up while cooking for my English friend who hasn’t the stomach for spice, but loves eating curries. This simple meal is light on the heat but still stands out brilliantly with that one-of-a-kind curry flavour. If you like curry, but like it on the mild side, this is the recipe for you!
Indian-British Fusion Chicken Curry
Ingredients
- 500 grams chicken breast, diced
- 4 tbp yogurt
- 1 tbsp black pepper powder
- 1/2 tbsp butter
- 1 tbsp olive oil or vegetable oil or sunflower oil
- 1 big green or yellow or red pepper, chopped
- 1 onion, grated or chopped
- 1 tbsp ginger paste
- 1 tbsp garlic paste
- 1/4 cup mature cheddar, grated
- 1/2 tbsp salt
- 1 tbsp tomato ketchup
- 2 tbsp fresh crème
- 1/2 tbsp vinegar
Directions
Marinate the chicken in yogurt, black pepper and salt.
Now add the vinegar and tomato ketchup. Let it cook on medium heat for a few minutes until the chicken is fully cooked. Finally add the fresh crème and cook it on low heat for 2 more minutes.
Serve with either garlic bread or boiled rice and garnish with grated cheddar.
I hope you enjoy the recipe and pass it on to your friends and family. For more authentic Indian recipes, follow my food blog at www.eatwithmeshrimoyee.com.
