the joy of rediscovering old sweetie favourites and the thrill of finding something new and scrumptious with Bookatable.co.uk
A family trip to London would seem to contain a perfect set of ingredient’s to celebrate a young girls 5th birthday, a journey on a huge train, an overnight stay in a posh hotel, the bright lights of a major European city and a rather special afternoon tea.
Despite our little girls very late change of mind that a party was a preferred option, we won that battle and headed off to the big smoke with a promise to make a little girls 5th birthday one to remember.
LNER offer superb return family tickets from Yorkshire and with easy access to parking, Wakefield Westgate is the perfect starting location for the trip.
Two hours later we arrive in Kings Cross and rather than heading to the underground we take the bus from the station to our rather swanky Crowne Plaza hotel.
The bus represents a great way of travelling around London and if you use the Google Maps app on your smart phone to plot your A to B you’ll be given details of the bus route and number, easy peasy
Clearly the Queens house, Harrods (for toys) and Hamleys was high on the agenda for an exciteable five year old but we had other ideas, something that every little girl would enjoy.
Fresh from exploring the mass of Toys in Harrods we took an Uber the short distance to The Chesterfield in Mayfair for a rather fun themed afternoon tea in the west end of London.
Inspired by Hardys Original Sweetshop, The Chesterfield Afternoon Tea celebrates the joy of rediscovering old sweetie favourites and the thrill of finding something new and scrumptious.
The spectacle of the dry ice smoke affect child friendly aperitif served in an oversized fish bowl style vessel delivered to the table by a gentleman dressed in a nostalgic sweetie shop uniform left us all wondering what could possibly be next that would top that.
