Lupton, a place where in all honesty there’s absolutely nothing to see, other than rather stunning country pub & inn named The Plough
A long and straight country road on the edge of the Yorkshire dales, a road that leads from one area of absolute beauty to another, The Lakes.
It’s a road in which we’ve already passed endless outstanding examples of stereotypical Yorkshire villages such as Long Preston, Settle, Giggleswick, Ingleton & Kirby Lonsdale.
Follow the road for long enough and you’ll find yourself in Lupton, a place where in all honesty there’s absolutely nothing to see, other than rather stunning country pub & inn named The Plough.
The sight of a roll top bath fills me with excitement even more so with the apparent high speed internet and jar of homemade pork scratchings, bath, Saturday football results, a coffee and a jar of pork scratchings, what more could you possible want in life?
A seating area and gigantic bathroom containing separate bath and shower make it one of the best Inn room’s I’ve stayed in for some time.
The short walk downstairs presents an incredibly inviting area with seating to suit all tastes, modern bar stools, social settle’s in front of the fire, it’s got the lot.
The menu presents me with the usual problems I face, how do you choose when the listing is this good?
My attention turns to the specials board for starters, Fried Duck Egg, New Season Scottish Giroles and Sourdough Toast, a dish that appears to have a real autumnal feel to it and is rather fitting given the apparent rapid decline in weather over the last couple of weeks, a dish that delivers on flavour and wets the appetite for what’s to come.
Sticking with the autumnal feel Mrs Pudd opts for the Chunky Veg Broth with Chorizo Vinigerette which receives similar praise from across the table.
it ticks every single box box for me and in turn continues the autumnal feel.
What a dish, the intense chicken flavour is like nothing I’ve experienced on this scale before, the duck jus intensifies the flavour of the dish and the tempura alliums adds a contrasting texture, it’s an incredibly well thought out dish, it’s fair to say I have food envy.
In dessert, food envy returns to my side of the table, set Blackberry mouse, with Sorel and Apple, I’ll let the picture do the talking, it finishes what has been an epic meal.
With a good nights sleep behind us, courtesy of our huge bed and incredible bedroom at The Plough and before we take the voyage home it seems only fair that we try out the Breakfast, if the food in the morning is as good as the evening we are bound to be on to a winner.
I can sum it up by declaring it the best breakfast I’ve eaten this year, the freshest of fresh croissants, fresh orange orange juice and a english breakfast that it quite simply stunning.
It’s fair to say that we’d highly recommend The Plough at Lupton, the food, the ambiance, the rooms and indeed the breakfast is absolutely outstanding!
