Can you really make money by posting about the food, shops and brands you already use? After earning £332.84 from 37 rewarded posts, my answer is yes — but Social Tip is not free money and there is a knack to creating content that performs.
I have used the app to post about 15 different brands, with an average reward of £9 per post. I am not producing television adverts, carrying a film crew around Yorkshire or waiting for every Reel to go viral. I am creating straightforward, authentic content about real experiences and purchases.
My quick Social Tip verdict: Social Tip is a legitimate and genuinely easy way to make some extra income from Instagram or TikTok. You do not need an enormous following, but you do need to follow the rules, keep your receipts and make content people will actually watch. Based on my own results, it is an app I am very happy to recommend.

My Social Tip earnings: the evidence
I always prefer a review that shows the numbers, so here is the position displayed in my Social Tip account when I took the screenshot for this article:
| My Social Tip result | Amount |
|---|---|
| Total rewards | £332.84 |
| Average reward | £9.00 |
| Rewarded posts | 37 |
| Different brands posted | 15 |

The £9 figure is not a cherry-picked best result. It is the average across all 37 rewarded posts shown in my account. Some individual rewards have been lower than that and others higher, which is important to understand before signing up.
What is Social Tip?
Social Tip is an app that rewards everyday people for posting authentic content about participating brands on Instagram and TikTok. Instead of reserving paid opportunities for celebrities and large influencers, it focuses on real customers sharing real experiences.
The basic idea is simple: buy from an eligible partner brand, create an Instagram or TikTok post about it, add the post to Social Tip and receive a cash reward if it qualifies. The amount is calculated using factors including the format and quality of the content, its reach, engagement and your following.
This is one of the reasons I like it. You do not need to pitch yourself to a brand, negotiate a fee or have tens of thousands of followers before getting started. Social Tip acts as the link between the brand and the person creating the post.
Is Social Tip legit?
Yes, Social Tip is legit in my experience. The £332.84 displayed in my account came from 37 genuine rewarded posts; it is not a sample balance supplied for this review. Social Tip Ltd is also an active UK company registered in Scotland under company number SC770810.
That does not mean every post is guaranteed to earn money or that everybody will match my results. A post has to meet the current eligibility rules, the brand must be participating and the reward depends on how the content performs. Online reviews naturally include people who earned less than expected or found a post was not accepted. I have nothing but praise for the platform based on my own use, but it is sensible to approach it as extra income rather than a guaranteed wage.
How does Social Tip work?
- Download the app and create an account. Link the Instagram or TikTok account you intend to use.
- Browse the brands inside the app. Check that the brand is currently eligible and read any specific posting instructions before filming.
- Use or buy the product or service. Most brand submissions require a valid itemised receipt, so keep yours.
- Create an honest Instagram or TikTok post. Clearly show or mention the product, tag the brand and mention @socialtiphq.
- Label the post as advertising. Social Tip’s current member terms require
Ador#adto be clear and prominent from the start. - Add the post in Social Tip. Select the detected post, choose the brand and upload the receipt if requested.
- Wait for the reward calculation. Social Tip says this is typically completed within 48 hours, although moderation or technical checks may sometimes take longer.
- Withdraw your available balance. Current help guidance says there is no withdrawal fee and the withdrawal amount must be over £5.
It becomes a quick routine once you have completed the process a few times. The part that deserves the most attention is the content itself: a qualifying post still needs to be relevant, clear and engaging.
How much can you earn with Social Tip?
There is no single fixed amount per post. Social Tip says its reward calculation considers the content type, quality and performance metrics such as reach, engagement and following. Each participating brand may also set a maximum available reward.
My own average is £9 per rewarded post. Across 37 posts, that has added up to £332.84. I think that is a meaningful return for content I can plan around places, products and experiences already in my life.
Your early rewards may be lower. Do not treat that as a verdict on whether the app works. Learn which opening shots hold attention, improve your lighting, look at the reach and viewing figures, and try different brands and formats. As your content improves, your rewards may improve too — but no individual result is guaranteed.
One rule I would set for myself is this: do not buy something you do not want purely because you hope a Social Tip reward will pay for it. Buy things you would genuinely use, keep the receipt and regard any qualifying reward as a bonus.
My best Social Tip tips for earning more
1. Study the posts Social Tip has been tagged in
Go to the Social Tip Instagram account and tap the tagged-posts icon. It is one of the best places to find creative ideas because you can see the sort of content real members are producing.
Most importantly, it proves that you do not need to be a film producer. Look at the different openings, angles, voice-overs and ways people bring products naturally into their day. Take inspiration from the format, then create your own original version and honest opinion. Do not simply copy another creator’s footage or wording.
2. Scan your receipts as soon as you get them
Receipts are easy to lose, fade or crumple at the bottom of a bag. I use an app such as Genius Scan to capture them clearly, which makes life much easier when it is time to submit a post.
Keep the full receipt visible and make sure the merchant, date, itemised purchase and amount can be read. Social Tip currently accepts clear photos of physical receipts and screenshots of valid digital receipts or invoices, but it warns against cropped, blurry or incomplete evidence.
3. Film in public, then record the voice-over at home
Talking directly to a camera in a busy café, shop or restaurant takes confidence. If that feels uncomfortable, do not let it stop you.
Record a sequence of useful visual clips while you are out: the entrance, the product, packaging, food arriving, a close-up and you trying or using it. When you get home, put the clips together and record a natural voice-over in a quiet room. You still capture the real experience without having to deliver a perfect speech in public.
4. Use Instagram’s Edits app
You do not need expensive editing software. Instagram’s Edits app is free, easy to use and connects directly with Instagram. It is a simple way to trim clips, arrange the story, add captions and record your own voice-over.
There is one important distinction here: Social Tip’s current content rules say AI-generated content, including AI voice-overs, is not eligible for rewards. Editing your own genuine footage and recording your own voice is the safer approach.
5. Show the product early and make the first seconds count
Do not make viewers wait half the video to discover what it is about. Show the product, food, venue or packaging in the opening seconds, then explain why it interested you. Natural light, steady footage and clear audio will do far more for you than a complicated transition nobody understands.
Social Tip’s own guidance recommends genuine experiences, clear brand relevance and varied content. Reels and TikToks can also have more earning potential than short-lived Stories because they remain visible for longer.
6. Focus on reach rather than vanity
Do not get too hung up on how many followers you have or whether every post attracts lots of likes and comments. Social Tip’s reward guidance includes reach and engagement as performance factors, and in my experience the number of people who actually see the content matters more than looking like a traditional influencer.
That does not mean engagement is irrelevant. A clear hook, useful opinion and simple question can encourage people to watch, share or respond. The point is that a modest follower count should not put you off starting.
7. Keep going and learn from every post
Your first post is unlikely to be your best. Keep the process manageable, look at the insights and notice which subjects, lengths and opening shots perform well. Try a mixture of brands instead of repeating exactly the same idea.
My total did not come from one lucky post. It came from 37 rewarded posts across 15 brands. Consistency gives you more chances to improve and lets small individual rewards build into a worthwhile extra-income total.

Social Tip pros and cons
What I like
- It is accessible: you do not need a huge following or influencer status.
- It rewards real experiences: content can fit around products and places you already use.
- The process is straightforward: post, add it in the app, upload evidence when required and wait for the result.
- It supports Instagram and TikTok: you can choose the platform and format that suit you.
- Small rewards add up: my 37 rewarded posts have reached £332.84 in total.
- It encourages useful creative skills: filming, editing, storytelling and understanding audience attention all improve with practice.
What to consider
- Rewards are not guaranteed: a post may be rejected or earn less than you expected.
- Rules vary and can change: check the selected brand’s instructions before creating anything.
- Receipts create admin: most brands require valid purchase evidence, so you need a reliable system.
- Public filming can feel awkward: using B-roll and adding a voice-over later makes this easier.
- Your content can be reused: the current member terms give Social Tip and its brand partners broad, worldwide and perpetual rights to use synced content, without another usage payment. You keep your original copyright, but you should read those terms before joining.
- Rewards may be taxable: keep records and check the current HMRC rules for your circumstances. This article is not tax advice.
Who is Social Tip best for?
I think Social Tip is particularly well suited to people who already enjoy sharing food, days out, fashion, beauty, fitness or everyday purchases on Instagram or TikTok. It is also a good introduction to user-generated content for somebody who has creativity and an eye for a useful story but does not yet have a large audience.
It may not suit you if you dislike posting publicly, do not want brands to have reuse rights over submitted content, or expect every post to deliver a fixed payment. It also will not be worthwhile if you start buying unnecessary products simply to chase rewards.
Social Tip referral code: 03KVDP
My Social Tip referral code is 03KVDP. The simplest way to use it is to open my invitation on your phone, download the app and follow the steps shown on the page.
At the time of writing, my invite page says a new member will receive a £1 joining bonus on top of the reward for their first qualifying post. It also means I may receive referral earnings when your posts are rewarded, which is why I have disclosed the relationship clearly at the start of this review.
Frequently asked questions
Is Social Tip a scam?
No. Social Tip is a real rewards app operated by an active UK-registered company. My own account shows £332.84 in total rewards from 37 posts. However, content still has to qualify and earnings are variable, so do not interpret anybody’s results as a guaranteed return.
Do you need lots of Instagram followers for Social Tip?
No. Social Tip says it assesses factors including content quality, reach, engagement and following. A smaller account can still earn, and Social Tip says private Instagram accounts can also participate if they complete the required connection process.
How much does Social Tip pay per post?
There is no fixed rate. My average is £9 across 37 rewarded posts, but your result will depend on the post format, quality, performance and the maximum reward set by the brand. A qualifying reward may be lower or higher than my average.
How long does a Social Tip reward take?
Social Tip says the calculation period is typically 48 hours or sooner. Allow longer if a receipt, post or account needs additional checks.
Do I need a receipt?
Most participating brands currently require one unless the app says otherwise. The receipt should clearly show the merchant, date, purchased item and amount. Keep the whole document visible and readable.
Can I use AI to make Social Tip content?
Social Tip’s current guidance says AI-generated content is not eligible for rewards, including AI voice-overs. Use your own original footage, photographs, words and voice.
What is the minimum Social Tip withdrawal?
Current help guidance says withdrawals must be over £5 and there is no withdrawal fee. Check the app or help centre in case this changes.
Is Social Tip free to join?
Social Tip’s member terms describe the app as being provided free of charge. You may still need to buy an eligible product or service and provide a receipt before a brand post qualifies, so joining the app and creating a rewarded post are not quite the same thing.
Do I need to declare Social Tip earnings to HMRC?
That depends on your total income and personal circumstances. Keep a record of rewards and expenses, then use current HMRC guidance or speak to a qualified adviser if you are unsure.
My final Social Tip review
I have nothing but praise for Social Tip based on my experience. It has given me a genuinely easy way to make extra income from content about brands and experiences I can talk about honestly. My £332.84 total shows that the rewards can become meaningful when you keep going.
The best part is that you do not need to turn yourself into a polished television presenter. Scan your receipts, study real examples, film simple clips, add your own voice-over at home and concentrate on making something clear and useful. Do that consistently, follow each brand’s rules and let the quality improve naturally.
Social Tip is not a replacement for a salary and no reward is guaranteed. As a practical side-income app for people who already enjoy Instagram or TikTok, though, it is one I am very happy to recommend.
