boy have Holiday homes changed since the days in which I was rewarded for selling them.
18 years ago at the age of 20 I packed my car of all my belongings and drove to Great Yarmouth on the promise of a job in which earning potential had no limits, it included a place I could call my own and i’d be surrounded by people who had one thing and one thing only on their mind, fun!!
The job in question was selling luxury static holiday homes (you might call them caravans) for Haven Holidays.
It was a brand new concept for me, I’d never seen a static caravan before let alone slept and lived in one, in fact I’d never actually been on holiday in the UK, mother and father are lovers of the sun and holidaying abroad you’ll remember.
My first 12 months with Haven were spent at an amazing holiday park named the Wild Duck, located 5 miles inland of Great Yarmouth it’s the most picturesque holiday park I’ve experienced, living and working there was an experience I enjoyed tremendously and look back on with fond memories.
It was in my 2nd year with Haven that I moved to the Yorkshire Coast Holiday Parks, firstly at the huge Reighton Sands Holiday Park before switching to rather more quaint Barmston Beach Holiday Park just south of Bridlington.
It was whilst at Reighton I met a girl, a girl that came with some controversies I would add, given she was an owner of a holiday home, a customer! strict rules existed around relationships with clients and I was in breach of said rules.
I left Haven Holidays rather rapidly but i do look back with fond memories, was the girl worth it? She’s my wife now and the most amazing mother to our daughter so I guess so!
Fast forward 18 years and I’m back on the Yorkshire Coast this time at a Haven Holiday Park named Primrose Valley, we’re staying courtesy of ABI Holiday Homes in their Clarendon Holiday Home and boy have the Holiday Homes changed since the days in which I was rewarded for selling them.
Situated on a brand new exclusive area of the holiday park, holiday homes have very much become a home from home, central heating, en-suite bathrooms, a fully fitted kitchen, living room, dining room and wrap around outdoor veranda area.
To be perfectly honest any use of the word ‘caravan’ is certainly doing this place an injustice, this very much is a holiday home and a luxury one at that.
After a recent rather hectic holiday abroad, we’re all keen to relax on this particular weekend away, with our focus been solely on family time.
The vast outdoor spaces that surround the holiday home provide the perfect playground for our daughter, a walk to the beach which incidentally is only a stones throw away, a flight of the kite & fish and chips by the sea makes for a spectacular couple of days.
It’s luck that we discover that the Red Arrows are in the area at the Scarborough armed forces day, a stroll around the harbour not only uncovers an ice cream institution I’ve never experienced before (Harbour Bar) but also provides the perfect vantage point for photos, is there anywhere better in the UK than Scarborough when the sun is shining?
Whilst we do venture to the new Lakehouse Restaurant on the Primrose Valley Park which serves some great dishes our main emphasis is around getting the most out of the opportunity to relax in the luxury of the ABI Holiday Home.
Whilst the design and specification of the ABI Holiday Homes may have changed over the amazing four decades they have been established and indeed since I lived in one, what hasn’t changed is that they continue to build exceptional quality hand-crafted holiday homes that generations of British Holiday Makers continue to enjoy as their home away from home.
The Clarendon the we stayed in is priced from just £32,506.68 and comes complete with sandstone aluminium cladding, white windows, carpet underlay throughout, an electric fire, scatter cushions in the lounge, free standing dinning table and chairs, stylish light fittings with low energy bulbs and usb charging points.
