Our local foodie champion, Chris Blackburn, the reigning UK Yorkshire Pudding champion, is to reinvent the traditional Yorkshire Parkin recipe with Green & Black’s Organic Chocolate.
Green & Black’s Organic has teamed up with our very own local food champ and creative force behind the Yorkshire Pudd blog, Christopher Blackburn, to create a bespoke Yorkshire Parkin, using Green & Black’s chocolate to put a new twist on the historic recipe.
This year, Green & Black’s Organic is touring the UK in a beautiful colourful vintage van and partnering with local foodie heroes to create special recipes for local communities.
The brand will be paying a visit to Harrogate food market on the 8th October as part of this Taste and Colour Tour.
The special pear and ginger chocolate Parkin is currently being developed by Christopher and Brandt Maybury, taste specialist at Green & Black’s.
The recipe is based on Christopher’s mother’s recipe. He said: “Growing up at school Parkin was always a regular hit with all the kids, but this Yorkshire classic seems to be less well known today. I’m extremely lucky that my dinner lady mum makes this Yorkshire delicacy. It’s a pleasure to work with Green & Black’s to rejuvenate this dessert; we’ve worked really hard to ensure it rivals the more well-known sticky toffee pudding. I’m looking forward to reintroducing the people of Harrogate to this favourite!”
The exclusive recipe will be available to sample from the Green & Black’s Organic beautiful Taste & Colour van at Harrogate Food Market on Cambridge Street on 8th October. Come along and try for yourself! If you don’t want to miss out on this delicious treat, we recommend coming earlier rather than later, as once it’s gone, it’s gone. There will however be delicious Green & Black’s chocolate to sample throughout the day.
