This relatively new but already popular restaurant is known for its delicious burgers and American-style cuisine, and it’s easy to see why. Meat:Stack first opened its doors in 2016 on the Newcastle quayside market before coming to Leeds in 2022. The restaurant’s mission is to bring the cheeseburger back to its American roots of quality, flavour, and simplicity to deliver the best burger possible. And they’ve succeeded in doing just that.
What sets Meat:Stack apart from other burger places in Leeds is the quality of the beef. They source the best beef available from rare and traditional breed cows and mix a bespoke selection of spices into their patties. But what makes their burgers stand out is the way they’re cooked.

Meat:Stack’s patties are smashed onto a raging hot grill, covered in cheese, and then stacked in doubles or triples before being steamed to melt everything together. This process, known as “smashing,” is what gives the burgers their crispy, caramelized crust and juicy, flavorful centre. The result is a simply irresistible burger.
But it’s not just the burgers that are amazing at Meat:Stack. Their sauces and seasonings are freshly made in-house and are designed to complement the beefy flavours they create.
One of their most popular burgers is the French Canadain OG, made up of Stack Sauce, Roquefort blue & confit garlic butter, smoked streaky bacon, pickle chips, and maple syrup. It’s a unique combination of sweet, savoury, and tangy flavours that’s sure to delight your taste buds.
And if that’s not enough, Meat:Stack also offers a variety of sides to go along with your burger. The Parmesan Truffle Fries are a must-try, fried in beef dripping and topped with Parmesan cheese, and truffle oil. It’s a match made in heaven.
Clearly, during my visit, I ordered the French Canadian and the Parmesan Truffle Fries, and they did not disappoint. The burger was bursting with flavour, and the fries were crispy and perfectly seasoned. Smashing!
One thing to note is that Meat:Stack doesn’t take bookings, so you’ll need to turn up and grab a seat when one becomes available. But trust me, the wait is worth it.
