The search for individuals with a deep passion and knowledge of Yorkshire is complete
The Coast & Country Hotel Collection has announced two local enthusiasts, Carolyn Frank and Paul Elsam, as Yorkshire’s county champions. The hotel collection, which includes the Royal Hotel in Whitby, and the New Southlands and Norbreck hotels in Scarborough, was searching for individuals with a deep passion and knowledge of the region to showcase the best that Yorkshire has to offer.
Initially, the collection was looking to select one winner from the many applicants they received. However, Carolyn and Paul’s enthusiasm and in-depth knowledge of the area impressed the judges so much that they were both appointed as County Champions.
As part of their status, Carolyn and Paul will be creating a travel guide highlighting the best things to see and hidden gems to explore around the county which will of course include Scarborough holidays. The Coast & Country Hotel Collection will use this guide to provide its guests with a real insight into what makes Yorkshire such a great destination.
Paul FitzGerald, Managing Director of the Coast & Country Hotel Collection, commented on the selection of Carolyn and Paul, saying, “The wonderful thing is they’ve both got very different takes, with diverse interests and alternative suggestions. That’s something that’s reflective of Yorkshire. It’s a magnificent county, with an enormous amount to see and do and it genuinely offers something for every taste.”

Carolyn, who grew up in Yorkshire, expressed her appreciation and affection for the area and her enthusiasm for exploring and experiencing everything it has to offer. Paul Elsam, on the other hand, spoke about his love for the variety that Yorkshire offers, from remote moors to sandy beaches.
The search for regional champions coincided with the launch of the Coast & Country Hotel Collection’s Explore & Stay package, which encourages holidaymakers to discover the extraordinary sights, experiences and attractions near its hotels. This package offers holidays and short stays across all its properties and emphasizes a dynamic self-drive approach to exploring the area.
The Coast & Country Hotel Collection plans to partner with various county champions to showcase the best of the UK using the knowledge of those fully immersed in each location. Carolyn and Paul are a great example of the passion and knowledge the collection is looking to uncover in their search for regional champions.
