Here are some of the most romantic places in Yorkshire

Planning a proposal is one of the most exciting and significant things you can do in your life. You and your partner will tell the story for years to come and it will become a treasured memory for both of you.

Apart from choosing a beautiful engagement ring, you will also need to think about where you want to propose. Yorkshire has plenty of romantic spots that will make the moment you pop the question even more magical. Before planning the exact day and time, do check the weather as this part of the world is notoriously unpredictable.

Three peaks

If you’re a couple who loves the great outdoors, why not combine the proposal with an incredible adventure? The Three Peaks Challenge is a huge feat of endurance, challenging hikers to complete the Yorkshire Three Peaks in less than 24 hours.

If you decide to tackle this together, why not propose on the last of the three peaks? Depending on which way around you do it, that could be Pen-y-Ghent, Whernside, or Ingleborough, all of which boast breathtaking views over the Yorkshire Dales National Park.

Descend the last mountain as a newly-engaged couple and celebrate with a glass of Champers at the nearest pub. Now, that would make for an unforgettable story!

Whitby

As one of Yorkshire’s favourite seaside destinations, Whitby really does have it all. Not only is it a historical town with many historical artifacts and buildings to check out, it also has a certain charm that most visitors can’t get enough of. Maybe it’s the old pier, the Ye Olde Sweet Shops, or the great dramatic clifftops that line the beaches.

What’s more, there are plenty of stunning spots to pop the question. If you want a great backdrop, you couldn’t do better than at any of the lighthouses, under the ancient whale bones,or in the Whitby Abbey grounds.

Brimham rocks

Brimham rocks Yorkshire

A popular attraction for people of all ages, Brimham Rocks is easily accessible from Harrogate and has some of the most unique rock formations in the area. Formed by a massive river over 100 million years ago (before dinosaurs were around!) this is an ancient, geologically intriguing site.

It’s also really beautiful. Weird and wonderful rock formations meet the wild moorland speckled with purple heather, forming a stunning backdrop for one of the most important moments in your life as a couple.

Hebden Bridge

The gateway into the Yorkshire Dales, Hebden Bridge is a quaint village en route to the national park, and it has plenty of natural beauty on offer. With incredible views over the South Pennines with endless woodland, dramatic waterfalls, and babbling brooks, it is pretty as a postcard and makes for an intimate proposal spot.
